Nop, we are not competing yet, but yesterday we went watching the first Apporteersport (retrieving sport in Dutch) competition of the season. Apporteersport is one of the disciplines of the FHN, a dog sport association here in The Netherlands, aside of the FCI association that everybody is familiar with. FHN sports include agility, retrieving, obedience, combisport, dog dance, fly ball and tracking. These sports are open to all dogs, pure breeds or not, and you don't need to have a retriever or hunting dog to compete in Apporteersport, although most dogs in this sport are.
Competions are divided in 'diploma day' (like the one from yesterday) and 'work test', each with its own rules and level of difficulty. Here below few pictures and a short summary of some of the exercises.
